The Magnificent Seven and Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua is in talks to direct the upcoming Scarface remake for Universal, Deadline reports.

This will be the third Scarface movie, following the 1932 original and the 1983 iteration starring Al Pacino in the lead role. There is no word on who will star in the new movie, but Deadline reports that the story will be set in modern-day Los Angeles; the 1983 movie took place in Miami.

Fuqua is no stranger to crime movies, as he also directed the Denzel Washington movie Training Day and Shooter, as well as the upcoming Magnificent Seven.

Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton) wrote the latest draft of the new Scarface, while Marty Bregman, who produced the 1983 Scarface, is attached to return in a producing role for the new movie.

Prototype developer Radical Entertainment released Scarface: The World Is Yours in 2006, which served as a follow-up to the movie. No plans for any new games have been announced, however.

Do you think Fuqua is a good fit for the new Scarface? Let us know in the comments below!
