The Division's public test server and a livestream event showing off the game's new content have been delayed. In a forum post today, Ubisoft started off by saying it's delaying the Special Report broadcast for The Division's 1.4 update, which was scheduled for September 13, because the developer "wouldn't be able to show all of the content [it] would like to."

Though the Special Report broadcast is being delayed, the weekly State of the Game briefing is slated for later this week. During this livestream, Ubisoft developers will give fans "more concrete solutions that will be present in Update 1.4."

As for the public test server, which was announced last week, Ubisoft said today that it won't be released this coming Thursday, September 15, as scheduled. The delay comes down to Ubisoft needing more time to include "key elements that are critical to the overall Update 1.4 experience."

"Transparency is something that we know our community wants, and something that we aim to deliver every day," the developer explained. "In this instance, it does mean that we need to share our schedule and intentions that are subject to shifting throughout the process.

"The alternative of 'leaving you in the dark' is not something we see as an option!" it added.

In August, Ubisoft delayed The Division's upcoming DLC so it could prioritize on fixing the game's issues and improving the overall experience. The Division's 1.4 update contains a lot of fixes and improvements. As outlined in this Ubisoft blog post, 1.4 focuses on these areas:

    • Fixing bugs, including those listed in our Known Issues as well as many other ones
    • Making loot drops more relevant to the player
    • Enemy difficulty and time to kill
    • Gear Sets and weapons balancing
    • Solo player experience
    • Dark Zone and PvP balancing
    • Quality of life additions based on community suggestions (such as weapon skins no longer taking inventory space)

Update 1.4 for The Division addresses the game's "most pressing issues," Ubisoft said. Overall, the developer explained that improving the game is an "ongoing effort" that starts with 1.4 and will likely continue with future updates.

A full overview of the changes included with The Division's update 1.4 was expected for the now-delayed September 13 video broadcast.

As for The Division's public test server, Ubisoft is launching this to let fans become more involved with the development. They'll be able to submit feedback to the studio before updates are officially released. The Division's public test server has only been announced for PC.

Public test servers are nothing new, as other examples of games with PC-only test servers that are also on consoles include Smite and Overwatch.
