Ubisoft is launching a public test server for The Division, the developer announced today. The server, which will contain features not yet available in the public game, will be available on PC but not consoles.

In a blog post, Ubisoft said the new server comes in response to feedback from the announcement of The Division's major 1.4 patch last week. Ubisoft is launching the server to let fans become more involved with the development, as they'll be able to submit feedback to the studio before updates are officially released.

"As many pointed out after we announced Update 1.4, a great way to involve you would be to let you try the update before its release," Ubisoft said. "We are thrilled to confirm that we will be opening a Public Test Server on PC for The Division in the near future."

More details about The Division's public test server will be announced "in the coming days." Check back with GameSpot for more as new information is divulged.

Public test servers are nothing new, as other examples of games with PC-only test servers that are also on consoles include Smite and Overwatch.

Last week, Ubisoft delayed The Division's upcoming DLC so it could prioritize on fixing the game's issues and improving the overall experience. The Division's 1.4 update contains a lot of fixes and improvements. As outlined in this Ubisoft blog post, 1.4 focuses on these areas:

    • Fixing bugs, including those listed in our Known Issues as well as many other ones
    • Making loot drops more relevant to the player
    • Enemy difficulty and time to kill
    • Gear Sets and weapons balancing
    • Solo player experience
    • Dark Zone and PvP balancing
    • Quality of life additions based on community suggestions (such as weapon skins no longer taking inventory space)

Update 1.4 for The Division addresses the game's "most pressing issues," Ubisoft said. Overall, the developer explained that improving the game is an "ongoing effort" that starts with 1.4 and will likely continue with future updates.

A full overview of the changes included with The Division's update 1.4 will come in a livestream event scheduled for September 13.
