The response to the Xbox One S has been "great," according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer.

Writing on Twitter, Spencer mentioned that some people believed Microsoft's announcement of the new Xbox console, Scorpio, might impact Xbox S sales, but apparently that hasn't been the case.

@SnoopyG7 Great response, thanks 2 everyone. Some thought Scorpio would overshadow S , it hasn't. Sharing our plans openly has worked so far

Spencer added: "Sharing our plans openly has worked so far." He said much the same during E3 this year, when he talked about Microsoft's effort to be "transparent" with consumers.

"The reason we announced when we did--one is I wanted to give customers a view into what we were doing," Spencer said at the time. "If they say I have an Xbox One now, I'm thinking about an Xbox One S, I want to be as transparent as I can be so they know they're buying with as much information as I can give them. I can't always give them all the information, but I want to give them this information."

The Xbox One S arrived in stores on August 2. However, only the most expensive 2 TB version ($400) is available now; the $350 1 TB and $300 500 GB versions are coming sometime later.

Microsoft has described it as the "most powerful console ever made," featuring six teraflops of performance, though pricing has not yet been announced.
